Rund expertise in recladding works

Rund Partnership is involved in a range of projects progressing vital recladding works, helping meet the increasing demand for safer buildings through the removal of combustible aluminium composite material (ACM) cladding.

Following the recent third anniversary of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, there have been urgent calls from the Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee to the Government to enforce stricter measures for recladding of dangerous buildings – as it is estimated around 1,700 buildings still contain unsafe ACM cladding.

To assist the speed in the making good process for these buildings, the Government recently opened registrations for the new £1 billion Building Safety Fund which has been set up to assist landlords in both the public and private sectors to apply for funding for the recladding works. The fund targets buildings with inert cladding materials over 18m tall, and owners have until the end of July to make an application. Rund is working with a number of landlords to review their buildings and assist with this process.

Our service scope details the works specification, estimating budget provision, advice on contractor procurement, and overseeing the works to ensure compliance and completion in line with safety requirements, to ensure a safe future for residents.

Paul Belfield, Director at Rund Partnership said: “We are proud to be working with a growing list of clients who are committed to ensuring buildings are safe for all users, whether that be in the education, health or residential sector. Although COVID has delayed various construction projects up and down the country, it’s encouraging to see these vital recladding works continue to ensure the removal of the fire risk to affected buildings, enabling users and residents to feel safer.”
