Rund Partnership was appointed to provide Building Surveying and Cost Consultancy services for proposed planned cyclical maintenance works as part of an estate-wide major works scheme to 11 tower blocks on the Hallfield Estate.
The Hallfield Estate is an example of immediate post-war modernist housing design, which was designated as a conservation area in 1990 and the majority of buildings were listed Grade II in 2011. It was designed by the Tecton architecture practice and subsequently by Denys Lasdun and Lindsay Drake in the 1950s.
The scope of works encompassed external decoration, concrete repairs, replacement of front doors, window renewal, new lighting installations, repair of tiled facades, brickwork repairs, external cleaning to blocks, asphalt repairs, soffit insulation and balcony drainage works.
The services provided by Rund included a review of the client’s record survey information, undertaking site inspections, assessment of costs and preparation of budget costings, together with issuing a feasibility report with recommendations.
Rund added value by reviewing the proposed works to ensure that they were fit-for-purpose and conforming to current standards, utilising the expertise of our in-house Sustainability Advisors and Quantity Surveyors to advise on the sustainability of products and services as well as identifying value engineering opportunities.
