Assistant Principal Designer – London
Assistant Principal Designer to help with all aspects of pre-construction health and safety, design review and management, for a range of clients working across the greater London region.
Our multi-disciplinary Surveying and Construction consultancy are looking for an Assistant Principal Designer to work from our London office, on projects across greater London.
Client areas include Residential, Commercial, Healthcare, Education & Arts, Community and Leisure.
The role will entail, but not be limited to:
Assistance in the provision of a professional, comprehensive and sustainable design review service for the client and key partners.
Assist and coordinate safely the overall design process through the RIBA design stages challenging the brief and bringing innovation and continuous improvements benefits to the projects.
Ensure adherence to the design brief/scope of services/CDM2015
Monitor progress against programme, and report to the Principal Design Manager (PDM).
Ability to review a design schematic and provide a professional comprehensive report to the PDM, with design suggestions to better said design in regards to quality of build/health and safety and CDM2015.
Ensure the design process recognises compliance issues, current legislation, standards and codes of practice.
Manage the pre-construction process to ensure that all design, technical, organisational and programming aspects take into account the general principles of prevention and, where relevant, the content of any construction phase plan and health and safety file.
Identify and eliminate or control, so far as is reasonably practicable, foreseeable risks to the health and safety of any person: a) carrying out or liable to be affected by construction work; b) maintaining or cleaning a structure c) using a structure designed as a workplace.
The right individual will be:
Architectural/construction and technical experience
A relevant qualification such as Architecture or Surveying e.g. Degree/Level 6 Diploma
Good operational planning and time management skills; able to manage projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality
Ability to ensure standards and client specifications are met
Knowledge of architecture and construction practice standards
